Jagged Edge Uk - Fuel For Your Soul [1991]
Monday, January 8, 2007
Jagged Edge U.K. is an excellent melodic rock band, who fit in perfectly alongside other long forgotten classy rockers such as Beggars & Thieves, Dirty White Boy and Baton Rouge.
Early incarnations of the band had a revolving door membership, with guitarist Myke Gray being the only mainstay. Demos were recorded, at different times, with a female vocalist and production by Neil Murray.
The classic line-up would form in 1989 with Gray, Matt Alfonzetti (Vocals, ex-Bam Bam Boys), Andy Robbins (Bass, ex-Tokyo Blade and Shogun) and Fabio Del Rio (Drums).
The band signed with Sanctuary management and a record deal with Polydor.
The debut Ep “Trouble” arrived in early 1990, but it would be the full-length Fuel For Your Soul that really showed what Jagged Edge U.K. was capable of.
The band would also tour behind Dickinson, as well as Thunder and David Lee Roth in 1990/91, but when the band was promptly dropped by Polydor and split apart soon after.

Humanimal - Humanimal [2002]
Humanimal is the brain child of Sweden's hard rock guitarist Pontus Norgren, who is joined by his buddies Marcel Jacob and Thomas Broman. For the vocalist position there was no other choice than Jeff Scott Soto, who agreed to once again join Pontus and Marcel, who as a trio made up three quarters of the much appreciated Talisman.
Humanimal the band name is of course, also taken from one of Talisman's albums...So is this release really Talisman? Well, on paper yes, but in reality, this is even better!
This album has fabulous production, sensational harmony vocals, an even mix, great heavy sound and most important of all, memorable high-class songwriting, and it’s little heavier than the sound of Talisman.
“Humanimal” cd it’s a pure European Hard Rock at it's absolute best from the beginning to end, and this is one of the best releases of 2002.

House Of Lords - World Upside Down [2006]
Wednesday, January 3, 2007
The title of this album is totally appropriate as vocalist James Christian had to turn the world upside down in order to get the House Of Lords to sound the way he wanted .
With the recording and release of “World Upside Down”, only Christian remains from the original line-up of the band.
“World Upside Down” is a traditional melodic hard rock recording, picking up where the band left off when it originally broke up.
At The End If you are an old House of Lords fan, or a fan of melodic hard rock in the vein of Journey, this is a Cd that you must own! This is one of the best Melodic Hard Rock records of 2006.

Harem Scarem - Human Nature [2006]
Monday, January 1, 2007
Harem Scarem are back with a brand new album that will taken them to higher grounds.
On "Human Nature" they have taken care of that problem and written some of the strongest Harem Scarem songs ever because almost every song has something to offer with fantastic melodic riffs from Pete to catchy hooklines and strong choruses.
"Human Nature" sounds between of "Mood Swings" and "Higher".
On background vocals they have had help from Tony Harnell (Ex-TnT, Starbreaker) and Darren Smith that has brought out some impressive harmony and background vocals to the album, amazing stuff.

Human Temple - Insomnia [2004]
Human Temple was founded in 1998. However, nothing much happened until 2002 when a first demo was sent out to various mags and labels.
The response was very encouraging and in early 2003 the band decided to record a full album. A producer was quickly found. As guitarist Jari Salo had been doing studio work for years, he handled the production duties and did a fine job.
Just to add some extra flavour to the album, a few Finnish guest vocalists were invited to take part: Emppu Vuorinen (Nightwish), Jani Liimatainen (Sonata Arctica) and Erkka Korhonen (Urban Tale). Each of them can be heard on one song, while Taage Laiho (Altaria) provided backing vocals.
All the material on "Insomnia" is of epic quality, pushed and teased to the outer limits of melodic intensity. The songs are crafted with a sense of maturity and expertise, certain tracks can honestly be placed alongside some of the greatest moments in hard rock history. The production from Jari is crystal clear, it jumps out and hits you, crisp, instant and mighty. Human Temple plays a mix of the eighties and nineties melodic hard rock, melodic rock and AoR.

Hardline - Double Eclipse [1991]
Hardline was formed when Johnny and Joey Gioeli, originally from the band Brunette, teamed up with Journey guitarist Neal Schon. Originally Neal was going to produce Hardline, but he was having so much fun that he decided to join the band!
They added established musicians Todd Jensen and Deen Castronovo to the mix and the result was magnificent.
This album is a masterpiece, plain and simple. While grunge was taking over the world, this album was lost in the shuffle. What a shame, as this probably would have been huge if released in 1988-1989.“Double Eclipse” cd it’s a great colection of straight Melodic Hard Rock and it’s better than many similar products by other bands due to the quality of the songs and also the attitude. At the end Hardline's “Double Eclipse” is one of the best albums of the decade. It is an untapped gem amongst the scores of albums on the market today.

Andy Taylor - Thunder [1987]
Not too many people know that shortly after his departure from Duran Duran, lead ax-man Andy Taylor released a solo album, an album that shows Andy’s hard rock side, rather then the mechanized sounds that people were used to.
On this album he writes, produces, and plays along with ex-Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones (ex-Sex Pistols).
"Thunder" is a strong guitar rock album from a man who usually relied on lots of effects. It's a true gem and Andy prooves he knews how to Rock.

The Poodles - Metal Will Stand Tall [2006]
The Poodles got a kickstart for their career by taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 in Sweden. They didn't end up representing Sweden in Athens, but got plenty of publicity for themselves, and have enjoyed success in their home country.
Like last year's Eurovision hard rock success story Wig Wam, the members of The Poodles are seasoned hard rock veterans. Maybe not quite as seasoned as Wig Wam, but still, they've been around for some time.
Vocalist Jacob Samuel is a former Talisman drummer and has been singing in Jekyll & Hyde, Midnight Sun and The Ring, to name a few of his previous groups. Guitarist Pontus Norgren has made a name for himself in bands like Great King Rat, Talisman And Humanimal, while the bass player Pontus Egberg has been in Lion's Share and Zan Clan. Drummer Christian Lundqvist has played in RAW amongst others.
The album “Metal Will Stand Tall” was already released in Sweden & Finland in may 2006 and has topped the swedish sales-charts, until now the record already reached gold status in their home country.
At The End “Metal Will Stand Tall” cd it’s a Melodic Hard Rock straight from the heart of the 80’s with beautiful refrains and catchy melodies.
